The one answer to “is this value a pointer, and to what?” in this package. It classifies by the value’s own shape and nothing else, and
reads both spellings the API can deliver: the component envelope (mode of reference or inline) and a plain { provider, key }
with no mode. It is pinned by the same pointer-cases.json the platform’s C# and TypeScript readers are, so a value that merely looks
like a pointer cannot be read as one here and not there.
